The Love, Simon trailer has finally come out!
For those of you who don’t know, Love, Simon is a film coming out in 2018 that is based off of the YA novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. It’s about Simon Spier, a not-yet-out gay high school student, and how he manages that along with his emails to his pen pal Blue.
So let’s watch the adaption trailer and discuss it together!

Firstly, I love how the background music is the same as every other teen movie. It just makes it feel more normal – even how the whole thing was shot and edited gave off the teen flick vibe.
I saw some scenes that weren’t in the book, but none of them struck me as being out of place. Like, I could see those scenes being in the book, so I didn’t have a huge problem with it.
Besides, I don’t know about you, but I don’t want my book-to-films to be word-for-word from the book. It’s predictable and boring – I do like familiar scenes, and moments and obviously characters, but I don’t mind some changes.
I did notice that the messages with Blue didn’t really make an appearance, so if I hadn’t read the book I’d know nothing about it. I’m wondering if that’s going to be a big plot point, or if it’ll focus on Simon solely.
As far as the actors go, I really like them. Especially Bram! I know a lot of people had a problem with Leah, and I agree that I did picture her differently – but I like Katherine Langford as an actor, and I feel like the heart of the character will come across.
I think Love, Simon has the opportunity to be one of the best book adaptions in a while. And that’s something I’m looking forward to.
