The Tea Dragon Society \\ spoiler-free graphic novel review

The Tea Dragon Society

Title: The Tea Dragon Society

Artist & Author: Katie O’Neill

Publisher:  Oni Press

Genre: fantasy

Mini series?

I got this little graphic novel in the February Owlcrate, and I wasn’t sure what to expect.

It looked cute, and I loved the artwork, so I read it one sitting.

(also, the edition I got was the Owlcrate exclusive, and I prefer that cover)

This book is so creative!

The artwork is stunning, obviously. And the story itself is short, yet sweet.

It has disability rep and LGBTQ rep (always love that as we all know). The characters are real and unique and the dialogue is honest and fluid.

Not to mention, not everyone is human? This might be weird to bring up, but I feel it adds a lot to the story to know this.

Also, the main character is a BLACKSMITH. That’s just so incredibly cool to me.

look at these cute tea dragons ๐Ÿ˜

I’m left hoping for more, and if I understand correctly, there will be a sequel? Not quite a sequel, but a companion novel, maybe.

This review is very short, but so is Tea Dragon Society, so…๐Ÿ˜‚

What did you think of The Tea Dragon Society?

  1. Ah I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a copy of this- the art looks so cute! My brain just has a hard time adjusting to the pricing- as although there are less pages than a novel graphic novels are usually more expensive because of the artwork. Glad to hear you enjoyed it though ๐Ÿ™‚
