Disney has been making some really excellent live action films recently! Maleficent, Cinderella, The Jungle Book – they’ve been knocking it out of the park. Needless to say, there were some very high expectations for Beauty and the Beast.
Interested in my thoughts about it?
The storyline is one of the main reasons I prefer this version over the original. It fills in so many plot holes that I didn’t even know were there.
Like what happened to Belle’s mother, the side stories of the servants at the castle, where Gaston came from and more. I found it so much more interesting and entertaining.
It was casted perfectly. Emma Watson was an amazing Belle, and Luke Evans was the perfect choice for Gaston. Dan Stevens made a better Beast than I thought, and I was pleasantly surprised.
Josh Gad made an adorable and lovable LeFou. Emma Thompson, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen: all were perfect for their roles!
The settings in this movie were more than amazing. Belle’s cottage was so adorable, and the little town was just as I would picture it.
And don’t even get me started on the castle and the woods!
As you all know, this movie is very music based. Not only do we have the classic songs with a twist, we actually have a few new songs as well!
Right after I saw the movie I ordered the music, which I never do. Usually I just get it on my IPod, but in this case I needed to have the physical CDs.
(Evermore is by far my favorite!)
The CGI was completely on-point! I loved how they did the castle, and the Beast especially. Not a single flaw that I could see.
I did see this movie in the theater, which I highly recommend.
It may be a bit too scary for younger kids, so if your child is scared easily, this is a movie to see at home.
