Synopsis: For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. At least, not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and probing eyes, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment. But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora’s not sure who to trust—she can’t decide whether she should fall into Patch’s arms or run and hide from him. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth more unsettling than any feeling Patch evokes. For Nora stands amid an ancient battle between the immortal and those who have fallen—and choosing the wrong side will cost her life.

★ ★ ★

This was my first Becca Fitzpatrick book, and I must say: it’s not a terrible debut.

I binge-read this book in two days.

This may also be because the two books I read beforehand were fantasy, set in a fantasy world, so this was kind of refreshing – we were in a normal world, but with a little bit of a paranormal twist.

I liked the writing style – it flowed well and really added to the story.

I wasn’t too happy with our main character, Nora Grey. In the beginning, I thought she was making all the wrong decisions, and I didn’t like her much.

That changed as the book went on. Reasons for her making these decisions come out, and not everything is as it seems.

So if you stopped reading this book because she made bad decisions, it gets better. Promise.

The side characters were enjoyable, and I liked hearing about them. I’m hoping Vee plays a bigger part in the next books. And Patch, but that’s, like, a given 😊

The ending was fulfilling. I hope it doesn’t drag the story out like certain other paranormal romance books (*cough* Twilight *cough*).

Overall Thoughts

A pretty good debut, but I’m not finishing the series. I read the synopsis for the second, and it was so trope-filled, I didn’t even try to read it.
