Synopsis: Isabella Swan’s move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella’s life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife-between desire and danger.
I had gotten two negative reviews on this book from my family, so I wasn’t too anxious to read it.
Then I finally decided I wanted my own opinion, instead of just jumping on the Haters’ Bandwagon.
First of all: go into this book with good intentions. If you go into it looking for something wrong, you will find it. Go into it with an open mind, and you’ll really enjoy it!
When I did read it, I found that I really enjoyed it. I liked the way the author writes, and it was very engaging. The conversations were natural, and she described Forks in a very clear way.
I liked Bella – her wit, especially. She’s made me laugh quite a few times – but I didn’t like how many times she mentioned blending into the background in the first few chapters; pretty much every description mentioned something about how she would easily blend in, not be noticed, not cause attention to be directed at her.
I recently finished the series, and I have to say – out of all the books, this one is my favorite. Even if I have problems with the rest of the books, this one will always be my favorite.
